after their first single, guns ,n, bombs are back on the dancefloor with riddle of steel! a new techno classic from usa forefront producers, para one brings it back to french house. unpretentious and unforgivingly badass, l.a.s guns n bombs (including an ima robot member) put the united states outside new york back on my techno map, blow current german electro standards out of the water and give paris,s new french touch a run for its money. on the dancefloor, this enormous riddle of steel becomes huge! a dark and relantless new track with discreet mainstream sounding excursions that make this take no prisoner techno roller. para one worked more on the entertaining vibe, balancing out the rougher edged electro techno tendencies with welcome moments of daft punk esque levity.
darkos productions have attracted the attention of djs from all over the world. his remix of the title track of nina mirandas (smoke city) album shrift in 2005 was one example, earning him critical acclaim when the remix reached the top 10 in the us download charts. more recently mr rakas has joined darko and his strange worlds collective. together they have embarked on a musical mission, blending deep minimal house and techno with eastern european romani gypsy jazz. simplicity is the operative word best to describe this release. the over sexed sax solo of sexaphone (a one take wonder performed by ben hadwen) takes house music to a new level, whilst danote on the other hand reflects on the hypnotic repetition of the hook, building a solid groove around a repeating synth line, appearing here in two versions, the stripped back extended mix and the more immediate club edit. another great release from the up, coming and one to watch label universal vibes.

adam beyers drumcode label has its ten year anniversary this year and there will be many releases as well as a massive compilation album project later in the year featuring brand new tracks from many of the label s key artists. one of the newest additions is the producer of this new release - tor lowkrantz or mighty thor as he is known. this 4 tracker again demonstrates the open musical policy of the label. the last hardcell release was a fine piece of work demonstrting influences from both hard and minimal techno sensibilities. this release focuses more on the harder end of the scale but still remains fresh with its almost old jeff mills and rob hood influences. all 4 tracks have a fat groove and are saturated with funk yet still pack serious punch in any set. another winner from drumcode

in our opinion alex bau is one of the best harder techno producers out there. his material over the last 5 years has been both energetic and groundbreaking. his material for zenit has been particulrly good and this is new release is is no exception. both tracks are different but equally effective. the a side is a driving hard edged techno cut with its pounding kick drum and sharp percssion. the track is punctauted with catchy synth riffs and stabs to great effect. the flip side is truly monstrous with its dark dirty warehouse feel and fat sub bass and string edits. great, great record

another quality dmx krew masterpiece we at turbo are longtime fans of dmx krew, so its a real honor to work with him again 6 years after his last contribution to our now defunct sub-label white leather. we dont normally trace an artists history or include much biography in our press releases, but we feel the need in this case to pay our respects to a long and brilliant career. with all the crap that gets paraded around nowadays its easy to forget who the real masters are... ed dmx is one of them. ive always held a soft spot for ed, he was one of my favorite producers in the proto-electro heyday. hearing his live version of the knight rider theme at sona (tigas club circa 96) was (believe it or not) a revelation. of all the artists id met up until then, he was the coolest, he could play synths better than anyone id ever heard, he had the balls to do vocals in his live-set but he was a sweet, softspoken, and super funny guy. for reasons ive never understood, eds pop side didnt seem to take off and for awhile things took a distinctly experimental turn... interesting stuff, but a departure

this is quite simply one of the most glorious records you will hear this year. it would be easy to lazily reference it against classic period rephlex/planet mu stuff (oops, i just did!), and indeed it appears to share some of the same heritage (even going so far as to feature a remix of rephlex artist global goon in its tracklisting) - but chris leary aka ochre is obviously a man on his own mission. gorgeously lush, but at the same time super-funky
as electronic as kraftwerk starring in a remake of tron, yet somehow as pastoral and organic as edward elgar
